Adam's Revenge Bio
As given to me by Eric Vancil
Adam's Revenge was formed in the winter of 1997 by Cab, a seasoned rock drummer who still had his days in the 80's Los Angeles club scene echoing in his mind. Hopeful to recapture some of that same magic, Cab performed with several local, Detroit-area bands, all of which failed to live up to the expectations set by his L.A. days. In March of 1997, Cab discovered guitarist Keith Ferrilla and bassist Eric Vancil, and began writing and rehearsing in earnest for the chance to play live gigs. Soon it became apparent that having a two-song cassette sampler to give to club owners, and to pass out to the public-at-large, would be the best way to "spread the disease.
Recording of this cassette began in May of 1997, during which second guitarist Animal, himself a guitar wizard, was added to the line-up. Keith quit soon after the recording of the cassette, simply titled "The Appetizer," to pursue other interests, leaving Animal as the sole guitarist of this titan band. In addition to the cassette, tehse two songs also appeared on various compilation CD's.
Currently, the band is working on the music for their upcoming full-length CD. The photo shoot for the cover of the CD was recently completed with newly-added guitarist, Jay Gutholm. Jay and Eric were in many bands together between 1989-1995. With Jay in tow, the band hopes to stretch its musical diversity to the limit. Recently, the band has added a new vocalist. The new singer is unique because he boasts three different vocal styles. The first is a high, gritty/dirty style in the vein of Mark Slaughter/Winger. The second is a high, clean style ala Michael Sweet of Stryper. The third is a lower bluesy voice in the vein of Ray Gillen. With this new singer, the band hopes to complete its CD by late summer. Adam's Revenge has never been a band to stay in one musical spot, and although they cover a plethora of musical ground, it always stays true to the core sound that defines Adam's Revenge.
